The Deptford Township
Democrat Club
welcomes you to our site.

Our politically focused social club is the place to be to see old friends, and make new friends, who share common goals, beliefs, and objectives in taking the Democrat party to new heights. We are about equality and diversity.
 
Want to check us out with no obligation to join?
Registered Democrats
are invited to join us one evening as our guest.
Our meetings are the first Thursday of every month at the Deptford Elk's  on Highland Ave. lower level at 7:30PM.

Deptford and the Hot Air Balloon 

When was the first balloon flight?

The first flight in a hot air balloon was on September 19, 1783 in Versailles, France. A sheep, a duck and a rooster where the first passengers.

The first “manned” flight was on November 21, 1783 when the Montgolfier brothers took a flight in Paris, France.

The first hot air balloon flight in America was on January 9, 1789. George Washington was there to see the balloon leave Philadelphia, PA. It went from Philadelphia across the Delaware River and landed in Deptford, NJ.
